Hair loss comes in many forms and has several different causes. There are also several different remedies, both medical and holistic. By far, the most common reason for a man to lose his hair is a genetic condition known as androgenic alopecia or male pattern baldness.
While there are a couple of recognized medical treatments and a surgical option, a lot of men prefer to try natural remedies first. For this reason, many men consider choosing a garlic based hair loss remedy.
Garlic is a vegetable that is rich in many of the elements that make up healthy hair. Chief among these is sulfur. It is also a natural antibiotic and antifungal. Aside from having a delicious flavor when used to season foods, it also has the ability to block the formation of DHT (dihydrotestosterone), the hormone believed to be the cause of male pattern baldness.
People use garlic in different manners, even when they have the same goal to stop or reverse the loss of their hair. It can be taken internally as part of a normal diet or in a pill form as a dietary supplement. It can also be applied topically to the scalp.
When used topically, the most common solution is to extract the juice from a clove of garlic and rub it on the bald area. This is allowed to set for 20 to 30 minutes. Then, olive oil is massaged into the scalp and covered to set overnight. The following morning, the hair is shampooed as normal to remove the oil.
Some people choose not to stick to a simple solution. There are many different recipes for home remedies that are based on garlic, but have other ingredients as well. Here, we shall show the most commonly recommended of these:
– Garlic Juice 1 Tablespoon
– Honey 1 Tablespoon
– Aloe Vera gel 1 Tablespoon2 egg yolks
– 1 teabag worth of chamomile tea
– Water
The first step is to extract the garlic juice from the clove. Mix it with the tablespoon of honey and refrigerate. Boil the chamomile tea in the water for a half hour stirring occasionally.
After the half hour, remove the garlic juice and honey mixture from the refrigerator and add one egg yolk and the aloe vera gel. Mix this thoroughly and apply to the bald area. Cover the head and let sit for 20 minutes.
Next, wash this mixture off with baby shampoo. Rub the other egg yolk over the bald spot and rinse away with plain warm water. Finally, wash the hair with chamomile tea mixture.
There are probably a hundred other ways to make use of a garlic based hair loss remedy. One should probably explore his options and choose the one that seems best suited to what he has on hand and seems helpful.
Always test any mixture in an obscure location on the skin to be sure that there is no reaction or irritation. If you are looking for a definitive guide on hair loss remedies, Hair Again book is the best solution.
I am terribly sorry but none of these concoctions have ever been shown to provide ANY RESULTS for men suffering from androgenic alopecia (95% of men who lose hair). In theory many things have benefit, in practice however they usually have none. Unfortunately you cannot remove enough DHT from the surface of the scalp, even using products designed to specifically do just that (Nioxin) to make any difference in the dynamics of your hair loss.
If you are real about doing something about your hair loss your choices are still Rogaine 5% Minoxidil and Propecia (1mg Finesteride). I also recommend using the Merk brand. Adding 5 mcg (5000 mg) of Biotin to your daily regiment is also recommended. Using Nizoral 1% twice a week is also recommended. The active ingredient in Nizoral has been shown to increase the diameter of hair shafts over time (the test was done while using Rogaine with 5% Minoxidil).
Just keep doing good posts.
