7 Steps to Shaving Your Own Head In Less Than 5 Minutes

When you start to lose your precious locks, you might prefer to shave your head rather than desperately hang on to the threads you still have.

Besides, a lot of women actually prefer a shaven head and it could save you around $100 a month in barber’s fees, which is no chump change!

What You Need:

  • A good sharp razor
  • Shaving foam
  • Hair clippers
  • Towel
  • Large mirror
  • Hand or shaving mirror

Steps:

  1. Clear the bathroom area. There will be lots of hair which will be much easier to clean up on clear surfaces.
  2. Use a hair clipper to remove the majority of your hair, especially if you have long hair. Start at the back of the head, at the top of the neck and work towards the front and repeat over the whole head.
  3. Just as with shaving your face, wet the head with warm water and lather the shaving foam or gel into the remaining hair.
  4. Using a brand new and the best razor you can afford, start at the top of the head and shave downwards. The first run is to go with the grain of your hair. But for a closer shave, go against the grain by starting at the front and sides, and working back towards the top again. Ensure to rinse the blade after every pass it makes.
  5. Next. Use a hand mirror to shave the back of your head. Work from the bottom to the top as before and reverse the process for a sharper finish.
  6. Once you’ve finished, wash your head and check for any spots that you’ve missed. Use the mirror to check the back and ask a friend if possible to cast their eye over it.
  7. Once you’re happy with the finish, rub in a moisturizer, preferably one that contains soothing aloe vera. Don’t use any alcohol based products.
