Jim Morrison was born with the name, James Douglas Morrison on 8 December, 1943. He was an American poet, filmmaker, songwriter, and singer. He is best known as the lead singer for the psychedelic rock band, The Doors. He also self published two volumes of poetry while alive and had two more volumes published by the family of his girlfriend at the time of his death, Pamela Courson, who inherited the rights to all of his works upon his death in 1971. While he wore different hairstyles at different stages in his life, the most famous is the wavy style worn when performing with The Doors. This was one of the first instances of widespread acceptance of truly long hair on a man. He has been pictured with straight hair, so it is likely that this style was aided by a permanent wave.
Unlike most longer hairstyles of the time, Morrison’s hair appears to have been cut in layers and razor cut on the ends to provide additional body and texture. Most men who wore long hair had it cut to a uniform length during that time period.
