One of the factors that make men and women different is the male trait of growing facial hair. While shaving has been the primary method of removing facial hair for many years, there are some guys for whom shaving is such a chore that they would rather find other means of handling it.
Fortunately, there are many different methods available and here, we will take a look at how to remove facial hair without shaving.
One method, which is not widely recommended, is using a pair of tweezers to pluck the hair out by the roots. For most men, this method could take up to a full day to complete if the facial hair is very thick at all. It is also a little painful and can leave the skin with irritated red bumps where the hair roots leave the skin.
Depilatory creams are effective for removing hair. These work by altering the structure of the hair below the skin so that it falls out and is rinsed away. One common example would be Nair, which is marketed for women’s legs. If one is going to use a depilatory cream or foam on the face, it is important to choose one formulated for the skin of the face and test it in an inconspicuous spot to ensure no irritation develops.
Another common method of removing hair, facial or other, is waxing. When this method is employed, hot wax is smeared onto the skin and covered with a cloth or paper strip. The wax is allowed to cool and harden. Then, the strip is yanked off, taking the wax and the hair caught in the wax with it. This method is also painful, but lasts for up to 6 weeks.
If facial becomes too much of a problem, one can go to a doctor and have electrolysis performed. This method of hair removal is permanent because an electric current is used to kill the hair follicles one by one. It is also time consuming and may require more than one visit to complete.
Hair can also be burned off using a laser. This method requires a professional to operate the laser to avoid burning the skin as well. It is a long lasting solution, but not permanent like electrolysis.
Shaving is by far the most popular method of removing facial hair. It is not, however, the only method. Any of the above methods can be used to remove facial hair, some with longer lasting results than others.
