How To Thin Hair

Many men have a problem with their hair getting thinner over time without any help. There are a fortunate few, however, who are blessed with a head full of thick hair. For these lucky individuals, there are times when the hair may become so thick that it takes on a puffy appearance and becomes a problem. This situation can leave people wondering how to thin hair.

Fortunately, the process is fairly simple. There is a special type of scissors that is made specifically for the purpose of thinning hair. These scissors have a special serrated edge that only cuts a portion of the hair that it goes across. Use of these scissors makes thinning the hair a simple matter of cutting it with them.

If one wishes to add some texture to the hair while thinning it, cutting the hair with the thinning scissors at different lengths will provide a bit of layering that can make styling the hair much simpler. This type of layered hairstyle is quite attractive on most men as well as women.

If one does not have access to a pair of thinning scissors, thinning the hair can be accomplished with regular scissors. The process of thinning the hair is accomplished by using a comb and a pair of scissors to cut the hair at different lengths to form layers. Care must be exercised to avoid cutting the hair too short. The cuts should be short and quick and done in sections so that combing and styling the hair will leave a smooth appearance with no gaps.

For the best results, it is recommended that one go to a salon and have the hair thinned by a professional stylist who can ensure that the hair is only thinned and can style the hair to make sure that the best appearance is achieved.

Razor Haircuts - Pictures Gallery & How to Get Them

Ian Watkins scene razor haircut

For most men, their hair is a source of pride because of the pronounced effect it has on their overall appearance. This makes getting a haircut a very big deal because the style must be right when the cutting is done. Unlike regular clippers that just cut the hair off bluntly, a razor leaves the ends of the hair angled. It may not sound like a huge difference, but the change in the texture of the hair is very real and very noticeable. The haircuts add a lot more texture and bounce to the hair when done properly.

How to Razor Cut Hair

There are several different methods of cutting hair that are used to produce different styles. Here, we are going to take a look at how to get a razor haircut.

The process of cutting the hair with a razor is relatively simple. Of course, it might be wise to have a friend that you trust implicitly perform the cut for you if you choose not to go to a salon. One thing to note, some areas of the hair can not be seen adequately for attempting to razor cut one's own hair.

In order to get the haircut, one must first wash the hair thoroughly and use whatever conditioner is normally applied. The cutting needs to be done while the hair is still wet from the wash, though it does not have to be dripping. Before making any cuts, one should divide the hair into sections from bottom to top.

The cutting process starts at the bottom of the hair and moves upward toward the top of the head. A fine toothed comb should be used to lift a section of hair away from the head at approximately a 45 degree angle. The razor should be used to slice the hair in short motions across the length of the comb, also at about a 45 degree angle.

In the beginning, it is a good idea to remember the adage, "Less is more." It will always be possible to go back and cut more off, but once a cut has gone too far, it is nearly impossible to fix without just getting a buzz cut.

As the cutting proceeds, moving toward the top of the head, varying the length of the cuts will provide some added texture to the style. This method works well for those with thick, straight hair that normally just wants to lie there.

Jason Momoa Dreadlocks Hairstyles

Jason Momoa was born in Honolulu, HI August 1, 1979. He grew up in Iowa, where he was raised by his mother. In 1999, he returned to Honolulu and was "discovered" by international clothing designer, Takeo. This launched a successful modeling career that led to acting.

Jason is probably best known for his portrayal of the elite fighter, Ronon Dex on SyFy's series Stargate Atlantis. Prior to this role, he also starred in Baywatch Hawaii as lifeguard Jason Iaone.

The hairstyle worn by Jason's character, Ronon Dex is a very thick set of dreadlocks. While this style looks good on him, the weight of it became a problem. At over 6. 5 pounds, his hair was causing him to suffer severe headaches and in at least one instance, caused him to suffer whiplash while filming a martial arts scene for the program. He decided to have them cut off during the off season between season's 4 and 5 of the program.

Dreadlocks are obtained by growing the hair long and then making several small to medium sized braids that each hang independently. This is a very popular style among men from Jamaica and other Caribbean islands. They work extremely well if one has thick hair, especially if it has some natural curl already.

How to Prevent Grey Hair

You may have heard that grey hair is a natural part of aging. You may even have heard that premature grey hair is also natural for many people. The good news is that even though it may be natural, this does not mean you need to allow nature to take its course. There are some measures which you can take to prevent grey hair.

As you may already know, your hair begins at its roots. This means that whatever you put into your body can effect your chances of preventing your hair from turning grey. One important factor is ensuring that you give your body the vitamins and nutrients it needs on a regular basis. Not only are supplements good for your health, they can help to prevent grey hair, too. In addition to supplements, a balanced diet abundant in copper-rich foods can improve the health of your hair’s roots. Copper can be found in dark green leafy vegetables and meat.

If you smoke, now is the time to stop. While there are plenty of health reasons to quit smoking, learning that smoking can result in premature grey hair is another incentive. Reducing the amount of alcohol you consume has also been shown to be a factor in preventing grey hair.

Your general lifestyle plays a significant role in the health of your hair. The less stress you have in your life on a regular basis, the less damage there will be to your hair. Although it is not possible to completely eliminate stress, reducing your stress and learning how to deal with the stress that you do have can go a long way toward keeping your entire body healthy, and reducing your risk of your hair becoming prematurely grey.

You may not have thought of exercise as being a method to prevent grey hair. However, when you have an exercise routine which increases your blood circulation, it has a positive effect on the roots of the hair.

While there is no one guaranteed way to prevent grey hair, all of these factors together can increase your chances of keeping your hair in its best possible condition and reduce your risk of turning grey prematurely.

Shemar Moore is a 39 year old African American actor who captured the hearts of millions of women when he played the role of Malcolm Winters in CBS television's "The Young and the Restless". He has also been quite successful as a male model and as a supporting actor in feature films. Today, he is back at CBS starring in the hit series "Criminal Minds".

The hairstyle that Moore wears is one that works incredibly well for a man with his features. The hair cut is called a tapered fade. It is achieved by starting out as close to the scalp as possible to get with the blades of a clipper and fading away from the scalp as the cut moves toward the top of the head. Moore keeps the top of his cut nicely short as well, but there are no real restrictions on the length of the top hair.

Wearing it the way he does, however, gives the hair cut a neater, cleaner appearance than having nearly shaved sides and long hair on top.

How to Make Your Hair Not Frizzy

Frizzy hair is a problem that affects men just as often, if not more so, than women. This is because both curly hair and fine hair are prone to frizz, especially in cases of extreme humidity. The reasons usually tend to be extremely dry or damaged hair.

Eliminating frizzy hair is basically a simple process. In general, it can be handled quite easily in the shower or when the hair is washed. Over washing can cause the hair to dry out and become brittle or frizzy. However, use of a conditioner each time the hair is washed will help to replace most of the moisture that is stripped away by shampoo.

In addition to the regular conditioner that is applied and then rinsed away, it is recommended that those prone to frizzy hair invest in a mild leave in conditioner. This will continue to moisturize the hair as well as helping to prevent damage from combing or brushing.

Avoiding blow drying is a good idea if one is prone to frizzy hair. The heat from the dryer tends to dry the hair and increase the damage to hair that leads to frizz. Instead, it is recommended that one allows the hair to air dry.

Use of pomade or other styling products will help to control the amount of frizz while styling the hair. These products are designed to provide moisture while helping to hold the hair in place according to the chosen style. This also cuts down on the need to use a comb or brush to restyle the hair, thus cutting down on the chance of the hair being damaged.

There are several home remedies for frizzy hair as well, but most of these are things that most men would refuse to use on their hair. Fortunately, most conditioners and some styling products contain the needed ingredients to control frizzy hair for men.

One of the more endearing traits he exhibited on American Idol was the fact that he wore his hair slightly different for each performance. He managed to change his hair so that the style reflected the song he was performing in some way or the era from which the song was taken. He even managed to pay homage to Elvis Presley with the way he styled his hair for his performance of the great love ballad, "Love Me Tender". One could say that Archuleta keeps his hair at a perfect length for taking on many different styles with ease.

How to Create Temporary Dreadlocks

If you are looking for a new hair style, but are unsure of what you want, consider temporary dreadlocks. Dreads are, most certainly, fashionable and well worth the time they take to create. Temporary dreads even allow you to have that look for one night or even a few days without the need for permanent ones. This article will tell you how to easily create them, another reason why they are a great idea.

In order to create temporary dreadlocks, you will need: shampoo, conditioner, a rat-tail comb, hair clips, hair gel and a hair iron. You will begin by washing and conditioning your hair. After you have done this, you’ll want to allow it to naturally dry. Next, you will divide your hair into sections using the rat-tail comb. Clip each section of hair into even portions no larger than one inch square. The number of clips you will need to use and sections you will, in turn, make will depend on both the thickness and length of your hair. This takes may require the help of a friend. Even if you find you are able to do it yourself, you may find it beneficial to have someone help you. Next, take a section of hair close to your neck and lightly cover it with hair gel. Twist this section, leaving about two to three inches next to your head untwisted. You may twist it as tight as you want or will be able to stand. The hair gel is there to hold it in place.

Now continue to twist each section of hair you have created, finishing with the crown of your head. Place each dreadlock in the position you want it to remain when the process has been completed.

Now place each dreadlock in a hair straightening iron for a few seconds. This is only necessary if you have fine hair that is difficult to straighten. If, on the other hand, you find your hair is staying in place with the gel, you may skip this step. Within 48 hours of creating the temporary dreads, rub conditioner into your hair. You may then follow the conditioner with shampoo which will remove the twists. If you find your temporary dreads worked out well for you, you may want to consider making this a more permanent look. If you want to create it at various times, you may repeat the steps above whenever you desire it for a relatively short period of time. Either way, temporary dreadlocks are easy to create and will definitely give you that different style you’ve been wanting.

Classic Men's Hairstyles

In this time of fleeting fashions and fly by night trends, many men are considering an update to their hairstyle. Unfortunately, being trendy does not necessarily mean that your hairstyle is fashionable, and depending on your line of work, flashy or trendy hairstyles may even cross the line into the realm of actually being inappropriate. Luckily, there are dozens of classic men’s hairstyles that can be worn by virtually anyone, and which are always appropriate. What’s more, if you have a great cut, you may be able to style it into any number of classic hairstyles as well as dress it down into something more trendy and/or casual as well.

Among the most popular classic men’s hairstyles are those that are often referred to as “classic Hollywood hairstyles”. These are the types or hairstyles that were worn and made popular by classic, old-Hollywood actors such as Cary Grant, Humphrey Bogart, James Dean and Sean Connery. Of course, while each of these hairstyles were the virtual signature styles of the men who wore them, it is important to keep in mind that not every hairstyle is universally flattering. This means that it is important to take into consideration your personal physical attributes, such as your face shape and the size and orientation of your facial features, when choosing which classic men’s hairstyles may be most flattering on you, personally.

Claasic Hairstyles Pictures Gallery

Depending on the length, thickness, and texture of your hair, there may be several different classic men’s hairstyles that are equally flattering and appropriate for your hair and lifestyle. In these situations, it is important to pick the style that is most compatible with your own personality, as long as it is a style that you feel comfortable styling on a daily basis as well as one that you can see yourself maintaining. This is of even more importance if you are considering a style that requires a fairly consistent length, as you will have to be diligent in your haircuts to ensure that your chosen style is able to be properly maintained at home. Another important factor that many men struggle with when looking into classic men’s hairstyles is the amount of time any particular style will take to manage on a daily basis. It is important to choose the hairstyle that fits into your daily schedule.

Popular Types of Mullet Hairstyles

John Stamos Mullet hairstyle
John Stamos Mullet hairstyle

The mullet haircut gained its popularity back in the 1980’s. It is classified as a haircut that is short on the top and the sides, while the back is left long. One of the first “famous” mullet haircuts was seen on Billy Ray Cyrus back in the day when he was first gaining popularity with the country music scene. The mullet lasted well into the 1990’s where we saw John Stamos sport it on the popular televison show Full House

There are actually two most popular types of mullet hairstyles:
  1. Classic Mullet

    Classic Mullet hairstyle
    Classic mullet

The classic mullet haircut is one that is cut in a traditional style on the sides and top of the head. The hair around the ears is trimmed short, leaving the back of the hair long and layered. If you have natural curl, it will give the back layered look a very nice, wavy and thick textured look. If you have straight hair, the classic mullet will look as equally nice, having their hair tidy in the front and still keeping a long hairstyle in the back.

  2. Ponytail Mullet

    Bobby Caldwell ponytail mullet hair

The ponytail mullet is an ideal haircut for men who intend to wear their hair in a ponytail but have to maintain a formal look for their jobs. With the ponytail mullet, the front and sides are cut in a traditional way, leaving the back long. When put in a ponytail, preferably right at the occipital bone plane, the ponytail can be neatly tucked inside of a shirt and/or a suit. It is a very neat looking haircut, one with versatility and easy to take care of. Men with straight hair typically tend to do very well with the ponytail mullet, while men with a natural curl may have a more difficult time keeping their hair from looking “bushy” while in a ponytail.

How to Save Money at The Hair Salon

With the economy being what it is at the present time, we all need to find ways to save money as often as possible. Yet, men want to look good just as much as women do. This often means going to a hair salon for a cut and style. This can be expensive, but there are a few ways to save money at the hair salon.

One way is to limit trips. This may mean wearing hair a little longer than normal because shorter hair grows faster and requires more frequent cutting and/or trimming to maintain a particular style. Or, one could go the other way and wear the hair extremely short. Having the hair almost shaved leaves it a lot more room for growth without having to be concerned about difficulties styling the hair.

Avoid coloring the hair. A little bit of gray tends to give a man character. If there is a need to change the color, use a preparation that can be bought and used at home. Home coloring kits come with very clear instructions and are nearly foolproof. You may even have a female friend over to assist.

Whatever length the hair is worn at, choose a style that complements your facial features and is easy to maintain at home. Men's hairstyles are normally pretty simple to maintain, but there are a few that almost require a trip to the salon just to get the hair back in position after a shower or a swim. Avoiding these complicated styles will make it easier to take care of the hair at home and avoid having to visit the salon.

Shop around for prices. There are usually more than one hair salon in any given town or city. Compare prices from three or four different ones and go where you can get the best deal. If you are wearing a relatively simple hair style, there is no reason to pay twice the price to get it cared for.

Taylor Kitsch is one of those rare males who is able to wear long hair without looking feminine or odd. A lot of the reason for this is his strong jaw line and the fact that he keeps his body in shape. A man with a beer belly trying to wear this hairstyle would just not look the same.

How to Highlight Men’s Hair at Home Using Foils or a Cap

Highlighted hair is one of the best ways to improve your look. Highlights add dimension to your hair cut, they conceal or blend grey and they brighten up your complexion. You can learn how to highlight your hair at home using two simple ways: by pulling your hair through a cap or by using foils. You can determine which product you want to use by determining the end result that you desire, for an even and full head of highlights you should use a cap and for chunky or isolated highlights you should use foils.

Once you determine whether to use foil or a cap you will then need to select a color. For blond shades it is relatively easy to work with bleach or a whitening bleach kit. This can be purchased at a local beauty supply store. This product lightens the hair within minutes and so it may be best to use this with a cap or to apply it in sections with the foils so that all of the highlights are lightened to the same shade. Hair color stays on the hair for 25 to 30 minutes and can be easier to work with however it generally can not get the hair as light as hair bleach can.

Purchase the products that you need to highlight your hair at home: Cap and needle, or foils (you can also cut tin foil into 3x5 strips), color or bleach and peroxide, one application brush, a shoulder cape to cover your clothing, a medium tooth comb, a tail comb (this is for use with foils), and a pair of gloves.

Next you need to select an area of your home that is somewhat isolated, invite a friend to lend a helping hand if you would like, put on some old clothes that can stand to get a little color on them, and get started. Place everything that you will be using in an organized manner on the bathroom or kitchen counter. Using gloves is a little tricky with foils so be sure to select gloves that fit snuggly.

If you are using the cap to create the highlight begin by washing, conditioning and blow drying your hair thoroughly. Comb your hair with the medium tooth comb until there are no hindrances or knots. Pull the cap tightly onto your hair making sure that it is pulled snug on the top of your head. Begin pulling hair through the cap using the needle at the bang area and the crown, next move to the left side of the head and then the right moving from the edge of the crown to the ear, last work down the back of the head toward the neck. If your hair is cut short on the sides and in the back you probably won’t be able to pull it through the cap and you can simple focus on highlighting the long hair in the crown area.

Take time in between pulling the hair through the cap to gently comb the hair that is pulled through with the medium toothed comb. Be sure to mix the color as per the instructions on the box. Lastly, you will apply the color with the application brush, set your timer and wait for the results.

If you are creating highlights at home with foil, you will wash, condition, dry your hair and comb it with the medium toothed comb. Next you will section the entire head of hair using clips, separately section the top, the sides and the back of the hair. If you intend to only do a few large pieces of hair then section the hair so that you have access to those pieces, and if the back of your hair or your sides are cut short then just focus on highlighting the top. Follow the directions and mix your color. Have your application brush ready and lay your precut foils neatly next to the color.

You will start the highlights in the sectioned off bang area. Take a one inch section of your bangs out of the clip and use the tail comb to zigzag into that inch section. The zigzag parting will leave you with a mixture of mismatched hairs; these are the hairs that will be colored. Lay the foil flat to the head and lay the zigzagged separated hairs onto the foil. Paint the color or bleach mixture onto the hair. Fold the foil in half, lay the unused hair from that one inch section onto the folded foil and take a new one inch section and again zigzag out some hair and foil and color it. You will follow this pattern on the crown and then move to the sides and lastly the back. When working with foil you must move more quickly then working with the cap as the color is already working on the sections that you started. For more bold results take larger zigzag pieces and for a subtle look take finer zigzagged hairs.

After the designated time, as per the instructions on the color, is completed remove the foils and rinse and wash or if you used the cap you will wash and condition with the cap on and pull the cap off with conditioner still on the hair. Be sure to wash the hair thoroughly and blow dry to see your new look. This is a simple explanation on how to highlight your hair at home. You will love the results of your freshly highlighted hair. Highlights emphasize the cut so be sure to have your cut freshened up as well for an all over great new look.

Aaron Paul has a distinctive hair style known by the name, the Messy Look. This style is accomplished by cutting the hair short on the sides while leaving some extra length on the top. After washing, almost all of the moisture should be removed with a towel, then a styling paste or putty is rubbed into the hair. The hair is then molded into place using the fingers to achieve the random looking spikes that stick up at different angles.

Despite the appearance of not being combed in a while, this style is one that is deliberately arranged to make the wearer appear to be a "bad boy".
